Obtaining continuing education to stay current in industry knowledge is the obvious benefit, but developing relationships with industry colleagues has been the most beneficial (and generally most unheralded) portion of conventions for me.

My practice extended from the East Coast to the West Coast and from the Northern border to the southern border. Attending the Annual Conventions and the included educational programs exposed me to the different conditions, practices, and needs across the country.

The IIBEC annual convention has been invaluable for my career and my business. In addition to the education sessions, I always learn something that provides immediate benefit from simply attending the convention on the trade show floor and during the social events. The convention always helps to improve industry relationships and helps make industry contacts I wouldn’t normally be able to make. I would highly recommend that anyone in the industry, especially people that are new to the industry, attend convention. IIBEC has always been a professional family for me, and attending convention is time to visit family, learn a lot, and have a great time with friends and peers.

The greatest benefits for attending the annual convention are the relationships that I have developed with other members. These have developed during 35 years RCI and IIBEC membership and are the result of conversations with members at the many conventions that I have attended, offices held, committee work, and being able to consult with competitors in distant areas of the US. These relationships have grown in number and have strengthened during the years of my membership. Various means of communications are available, however, none are as great as face-to-face communications – these can occur at conventions and regional meetings.
